Stacking Up Skills for the Future

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders from Elwell Elementary, Milliken Intermediate, and Pioneer Ridge came together for the 21st Annual Speed Stacking Competition—and WOW did they bring the energy!

Yes, it was a competition… but the real victories were in the perseverance, goal setting, teamwork, and encouragement we saw at every single table. These are the exact skills we want for OuR Graduates, and our students showed them in record‑breaking amounts.

Bonus: our 5th graders got an early chance to build relationships with the classmates they’ll join next year at Roosevelt Middle School. New friendships = already stacking success for the future! And while the cups were flying fast, the connections were built even faster.

Five Years of Building Futures Together

Spaces that Inspire. Learning that Lasts.

For the past five years, Weld RE-5J has worked hand-in-hand with our community to create environments where every learner—and every educator—feels a deep sense of belonging. With the support of the community and voters, the passing of the 2020 Bond allowed multiple capital projects and maintenance improvements to launch. These enhancements are not just about buildings; they are about opportunities for growth, passion, and preparing for the future. Together, we have ensured that our schools are safe, accessible, welcoming, and designed for collaboration and innovation. Every improvement reflects our shared commitment: to extend the life of our facilities, reduce costly repairs, and provide spaces that are developmentally appropriate, aesthetically pleasing, and ready for tomorrow. We are proud to celebrate that journey—and the community that made it possible.

Future Chef

5J is thrilled to celebrate our young culinary stars following this year’s Future Chef Competition, themed Passport to Flavor—inviting students in grades 3–5 to create delicious recipes inspired by cultures from around the world.

At the district cook‑off on February 26, students impressed our panel of judges with originality, healthy choices, presentation, and taste. We are proud to announce the 2026 winners:
🏆 1st Place: Able Aleman (MIS)
🥈 2nd Place: Joseph Hull (MIS)
🥉 3rd Place: Brooklynn Cunningham (KQA)

District Finalists:
• Danyca Milosky‑Rivera (EES)
• Alexander Juarez (PRE)
• Hannah Olsen (PRE)
• Ellianna Hinrichs (EES)

All finalists received chef gear and special gifts as they showcased their skills in a fun and supportive competition environment. The winning recipe will also move on to be considered in Sodexo’s national competition this spring!

Congratulations to all our amazing Future Chefs! 🌟🍽🌍

What is your favorite meal?

Our students that are multilingual selected their favorite recipes from home and created posters of them. Students described the taste and texture of the dish as well as why they chose the recipe. They presented their posters to 1st and 2nd grade classes. Then students presented their posters to their families and shared their foods with each other. It was a great (and delicious) cultural exchange!

Veteran's Day Performance

Elwell 5th Grade Students performed a Community Concert to honor our active and reserve military members on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 on the Learning Stairs.

Veterans, families, community, staff and students joined for a performance by the entire 5th grade class as they presented Greg Gilpin’s Armed Forces - The Pride of America in honor of our military service members.  This was a free and open concert for the school and community.
